Sarah Dye is the owner of Dogwood & Iron Research, LLC. With over 30 years of living in the Fredericksburg area and her life-long passion for history, she brings deep local knowledge and a lifelong connection to the region’s history while offering genealogical and historic property research services.
She served as Director of the Spotsylvania Historical Association for six years (2016-2022), where she played an active role in preserving, interpreting, and sharing local heritage through events, bringing hands-on historical activities to the Spotsylvania County Elementary Schools, partnering with National Park Service (NPS) to coordinate fields trips to the local battlefields, and documenting local historical sites.
She is the author of To Give and To Gain: The Women of Todd's Tavern Sewing Circle and host of the historical podcast Ladies First (Not Really) where she combines storytelling with rigorous research to make history accessible and engaging.
She has provided professional historical and genealogical reporting locally and outside for over a decade.
In addition to her research work, she is deeply committed to community support through teaching and sharing history with the public and the next generation. Her passion lies in researching historic properties and helping families uncover their ancestors, giving them a clearer understanding of where they came from and the stories that shaped them. Through careful documentation, education, and thoughtful analysis, she is dedicated to connecting people—and the broader community—with their past in meaningful and lasting ways.
She holds a B.S. in Business Administration: Project Management from Liberty University (2021) and has over eight years of experience managing and complex projects.
